X-men First Class Empty X-men First Class

Post by The Weather God Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:34 am

As many may have known X-men First Class, a prequal to the X-men films, has apparently went underway in production. The original director, Bryan Singer, has decided to return to the series and direct the new film based on the early years of the X-men. That's not to say that this will be a film about the original five x-men, Beast, Angle, Cyclops, Jean, and Iceman. But the original X-men that were confirmed in the film series. Storm has been confirmed for the series and we may finally get to see an origin worth told on the big screen.

Discuss here news and updates about the film, speculation is also welcomed. The film won't be out for awhile now but I guess the media buzz should begin here.

Discuss away!

i am totally glad to hear that bryan is back! i like him a lot and he did an awesome job on the x-men movies! poorly he wasn't able to save a lil bit more in X3 of the big confusion ... i mean i loved it, but he would have done it a lil bit better!!

Apparently it was only rumors that Storm was in first class, and there has been no word if Storm will actually be in the film at all. No actress or confirmation has hinted Storm to be in this movie... Sad

Well to keep the faith alive, Jean nor Cyclops have been cast or confirmed either. So there is still hope that Storm will make it.

Exactly, Xavier confirmed in the first movie that Cyclops, Jean, and Storm were some of his first students. First Class is a prequel not a reboot, so it is very likely that those three would be in the movie, even if they haven't been cast or confirmed.

X-men First Class Empty Re: X-men First Class

Post by The Weather God Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:23 pm

Well it looks like no Storm guys...

Hey folks, Harry here with a great update on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS that just came from Producer: Bryan Singer - who tells me he's been working on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS for over a year now and with the looming August 31st, filming date approaching - he wanted to clarify some of what it is they're doing.

First off - the film takes place in the 1960's. John F Kennedy is the President of the United States. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are on TV doing marches. There is a spirit of a hopeful future that was prevalent in that time. We will see how Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr met - and how they dreamt of a future with Mutant & Human kind. They're going to be in their late twenties. Xavier - as played by James McAvoy will not be in his wheelchair to begin the film - but we will see how he wound up in a wheelchair. I asked if McAvoy would have a nice shiny chrome dome - and folks. We're going to see Professor X when he still had hair. We'll see McAvoy and Fassbender's Magneto formulate what it is they are attempting by creating the X-MEN.

Now Bryan wanted us to know this is not the conventional FIRST CLASS comic - but rather a new beginning for X-MEN. Set in the 60s - Vaughn is technologically inspired by JAMES BOND's tech of the time. The costumes will be far more comic bookish than we've seen before - and while Scott and Jean aren't here - Cyclops' brother Alex Summers aka Havoc will be, as played by Lucas Till.

With January Jones and Kevin Bacon playing Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw - we will be getting the HELLFIRE CLUB. I commented that the HELLFIRE CLUB has always felt like something that it would be wrong to modernize, as it felt as though it were something specific to the swinging Hefner era of the 60s... and Bryan said that's exactly why they're making use of the HELLFIRE CLUB... the dress and the costumes associated with that glorious period of the X-MEN... belong in the 60s. I asked if Kevin Bacon would be sporting that little ponytail with the ribbon - Bryan laughed and said, "We'll see".

In regards to the cast, Bryan was especially excited to land Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast. Nicholas was set for FURY ROAD, but their start date shifted which opened up his availability for FIRST CLASS. Also - Rose Byrne is playing Moira MacTaggert, I liked her in KNOWING. And I think she's fairly perfect for Moira. The cast list over on IMDB is correct (with the exception of the Rosamund Pike rumor).

Looks like filming will begin with Xavier at Oxford University in the 60s. And Bryan is excited that the film is going to have a much more international feel than the prior X-MEN movies. They'll be shooting in England & the United States - and they'll be representing other locales around the globe as well, but would only tell me that Russia (aka The Soviet Union... CCCP) will be amongst them. He doesn't want to show all the cards just yet. But the International flavor will give the film a more James Bond vibe... I get the idea that this is going to be something quite special.

How can I say that based on a quick conversation with Bryan? Well... folks, this is the first time that we're going to get a silver age MARVEL story. That's incredibly exciting to me. Hearing Bryan actually saying that the costumes will be far more reflective of what we saw in the comics - well that is exciting. But more than that... I just can't wait to see young vital versions of Xavier and Magneto played by excellent actors in their prime.

But more so... This is the time for Matthew Vaughn to shine. I loved KICK ASS, but it didn't have the namebrand of X-MEN or the scope that those stories have. Here, everything that Vaughn has can be put on display. Having Vaughn work in a James Bond-esque period - that was the period that the X-MEN first came to life. There's potential for something amazing.

There are characters that we're not being told about though. Bryan said so. And we can all speculate as to who they are. We know we're going to have Darwin, Young Raven Darkholme, Banshee, Havok, lil Mystique, Azazel, Emma Frost, Beast, Xavier, Magneto and a female Angel. So... who's missing? Well - I'm kinda hoping for Donald Pierce and Harry Leland - myself. How about you?

Apparently Scott and Jean predate the film, so we can only assume so does Storm, since she was basically the same age as both of them in the films.

I like where the film is taking place and everything, but the cast just seems too new to the general public to be a good X-film or even a successful film altogether IMHO. The only characters that I will be looking forward to seeing are Xavier, Magneto, and Beast. And I was only fond of their supportive roles in the film and tv series.

So i am not happy at all with the casting of the team...

X-Men First Class Will Feature The Hellfire Club

X-men First Class First-class-the-hellfire-club-24-8-10-kc
Over the past few weeks, fans of the X-Men franchise have been sitting on pins and needles waiting for details regarding the plot to the prequel First Class. The recent influx of casting changes including the addition of January Jones as Emma Frost and Zoe Kravitz as Angel (Salvadore?) has taken people for a loop. Over at AICN, they were able to set the record straight with an interview from producer Bryan Singer who not only clarified the film’s story but also Kevin Bacon’s role as the villain.

The setting of First Class will be the 1960s, a time when the country was bursting with the counter culture revolution, the Civil Rights Movement,
and in this case, the increasing presence of mutants. We’ll get to see
how “Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr met – and how they dreamt of a future
with Mutant & Human kind. They’re going to be in their late
twenties. Xavier – as played by James McAvoy will not be in his wheelchair to begin the film – but we will see how he wound up in a wheelchair.”
Jones and Bacon will play Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw and yes, they’ll be bringing the Hellfire Club with them. The overall theme will be very vintage and nowhere near as modern looking as the other X-Men
films, something that they’ll be able to get away with because of the
time period. The costumes “will be far more comic bookish than we’ve
seen before.”
As for the characters, we won’t be seeing Scott (Cyclops) or Jean
(Marvel Girl) around but Scott’s younger brother Havoc will be on board.
The shoot is scheduled to begin on August 31st and it will have an
international feel to it.
“They’ll be shooting in England & the United States –
and they’ll be representing other locales around the globe as well, but
would only tell me that Russia (aka The Soviet Union… CCCP) will be
amongst them”
Overall, Singer says that First Class will be to X-Men what Casino Royale was to James Bond.
I don’t have a personal investment in this film but for those of you
who do, what do you think of all this? Can you imagine the early X-Men without Scott and Jean?

Post by Chatte Sun Aug 29, 2010 6:11 pm

Well, wasn't the First Class made from Jean as Marvel Girl, Scott leading the X-Men formed from Angel, Beast and Ice-Man? - correct me if I am wrong please Embarassed

What the hell are they doing?
They're ruining everything we know about the X-Men! They're ruining the stories, all!

I wonder if there will be someone, someday, that will make a movie exactly as in the comic-books...?!

If Marvel wont give Storm a her own long running series she's never going to get a movie. A animated movie(and that's a BIG stretch) but never a real movie.

oh my g. So it's gonna be like it's gonna take a few seconds again for Storm to summon her powers, there'll be no flying but floating only, and lack of action. : (

They should have the director from iron Man or fantastic four handle x-men films.

And Marvel's still giving Bryan a good recognition when he actually destroyed the x-men film in the first place. Like not letting the x-men stick to their x-uniform in comics.
